Like a Local: Lauren Goslee

Lauren Goslee grew up in Flushing with her parents and two siblings who are all very close. Over the past decade, many of her family members have moved to the west side of the state and initially, the plan was if one person moved, they’d all move. However, there is something about the area and her job at SERVPRO that keeps Lauren and her family here.

Although there are other branches of SERVPRO she could work for and other places around the state she could go, she says it’s the person (her boss Josh Ingersoll) and the place (Genesee County) that makes her job as successful and rewarding as it is.

Along with her husband and two daughters, Lauren keeps busy in Genesee County. Here is what a typical day looks like for her.

MORNING

If she can, Lauren starts her day at the office checking emails and responding to clients. However, most days that isn’t the case. Lauren, as a part of her job, is a member of four different chambers, two of which she is an ambassador for. So, typically her morning consists of a networking event like Connect Over Coffee with the Flint & Genesee Chamber.

After that, she likely will be dropping in or meeting up with a client, who are mostly local insurance agents, to stay connected or find new referrals.

LUNCH

During lunchtime, Lauren can be found meeting clients or having meetings for organizations she’s involved in, like the Flint & Genesee Young Professionals, at local establishments throughout Genesee County. At least twice a week, she finds herself at the Flint Farmers’ Market, she often can be found at Café Rhema, and she loves grabbing tacos at La Azteca. If she isn’t meeting clients at lunch, she is probably working with one of the local Chambers or at a ribbon cutting.

AFTERNOON

The afternoon calls for more meetings usually at local coffee shops like the Coffee Beanery in Flint or Fireside Coffee in Swartz Creek. She also works with local fire departments to maintain a close relationship with their staff who help connect her with individuals and businesses that may have experienced fire damage. This work includes helping to support local first responder organizations such as the Genesee County Fire Chief Association and National Night Out

EVENINGS

During the evenings Lauren is caught up with activities for her 7- and 11-year-old daughters. Both play soccer and Lauren coaches both teams. They also participate in Girls Scouts. One is in volleyball and the other is in band and running club. So, she says dinner is at 4:30 p.m. and at 8:30 p.m. every night to work around schedules.

WEEKENDS

For Lauren and her family, the weekends are spent either caught up in sports – going to soccer games or for Lauren, participating in the adult soccer league she plays in at Soccer Zone in Grand Blanc. They also spend time watching Flint Firebirds, Flint City Bucks, or Flint City AFC games. They love supporting Flint’s local sports teams. During the day, they can be found at places like For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum, Applewood Estate, or the Sloan Museum of Discovery to get the girls out of the house.

Lauren admits that she keeps busy but likes to tell people she thrives in chaos. And in Genesee County, she has plenty here to keep the chaos going.
